Duties and Responsibilities:

A paint technician for an independent auto repair shop, duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to,

  • Undertake all vehicle painting tasks as distributed by the Bodyshop Manager, including:

    • Spraying of vehicles

    • Filler work

    • Masking

    • Priming

    • Topcoat

    • Lacquering, polishing and finishing

  • Observe, recognise and report on vehicle structure and paintwork.

  • Ensure that vehicles comply with safety standards when returned to customers or that faults have been reported and noted on the job card.

  • Removal and safe disposal of vehicle components and fluids as directed by work order.

  • Quality control of all repairs, with final stage sign-off.

  • Report all faults and defects noticed whilst working on vehicles.

  • Take care of equipment, special tools, and personal tools and report any faulty equipment to your line manager.

  • Actively ensure that the repair method is on the job card, fully read, understood, and always displayed with the vehicle.

  • Observe, recognise and report on vehicle structure and paintwork.

  • Interpret and implement technical service instruction data.

  • Indent for replacement parts and record usage.

  • Paint repair – to be able to accurately use paint mixing schemes, computerised scales, spray booths and drying lamps.

  • Application of topcoat to manufacturer’s specification.

  • Preparation of repaired areas as directed by work order in readiness for the application of a topcoat.

  • General workspace cleanliness, protection of vehicles for overspray, booths and push-through ovens emptied and compactor emptied.

The candidate should have some experience in the described role. They must also be dependable. We are looking to fill this role full-time and long term.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an auto repair workshop

  • Must have a technical qualification or trained to City and Guilds standard NVQ or equivalent.

  • Maintain professional appearance

  • Punctual nature and ability to handle schedule flexibility and dynamic work environment.

  • Basic working knowledge of computers.

  • Having a good working knowledge of Repair Methods.

  • Being proactive in identifying and implementing effective working processes

  • Must have high standards of customer service, be a positive and effective communicator, and consistently adhere to strict processes.

  • Aware of composite and aluminium repair.

  • Bonding, sealer and filler repair skills.

  • Team player who uses initiative

  • Flexibility and a can-do attitude.

  • Cultural and organisational insight and takes responsibility for own actions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: TBA

Shift & Schedule: 07:30 - 17:30 Monday - Friday

08:00 - 13.00 Saturday
